| Where and when were you born? I was born on the 10th June 1971 in Melbourne, Australia What is your profession? My main income now comes from my ever evolving website www.musclefemme.com which is my main business. I have big things planned for this in 2006 and will be filming some awesome new strength feats for my upcoming DVD. Update May 2006 – Check out the new video clips on my website of me crushing melons (including a large watermelon) between my thighs and ripping phone books (more than 1000 pages each) in half!!! I have my fingers in a few other pies too!! Here are a few examples: Sound engineering – I have my own recording / post production studio Strength coaching / personal training / life coaching – I am available for consultations Professional musician - I have a number of music projects on the go. Check out www.superpuss.net I am fully qualified in electronics too. Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training? I played tennis in local A grade competition and basketball in my teens. I was good at swimming and sprinting in high school and enjoyed the fitness tests. We had two fitness tests per year and I managed to get gold awards for all except one of them. I set the record at my high school for the flexed arm hang too. Getting my drivers licence at 18 reduced my fitness levels somewhat (I rode my bike everywhere before that) so I started lifting weights at 21 to get back in shape. A friend of mine wrote a basic bodybuilding routine for me and I’ve been hooked ever since. Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? I’ve never actually had a desire to compete in bodybuilding. To me, there’s just too much subjectivity involved, besides, my true passion is strength sports like powerlifting and strongwoman competitions. I feel that training and dieting specifically for bodybuilding competition would be counter-productive to my goals. Can you give me your competition history? My powerlifting days are still just beginning. I have done four competitions since December 2004 and have loved every one of them. In my first three competitions I competed raw (meaning without any lift assisting equipment like suits or wraps). I recently competed in my first fully equipped (lifting belt, squat and deadlift suit and bench shirt) three lift event and claimed first place at a bodyweight of 70.5 Kgs (155.1 lbs). My final competition for 2005 was the National Postal Deadlift Challenge. I placed first in my state and second nationally and claimed two new National and two new State records with a final lift of 180 Kgs (396 lbs) at 71.95 Kgs bodyweight (158.3 lbs). My current powerlifting records (December 2005): Australian records – * Open women’s single lift deadlift: 180 Kgs (396 lbs) at 71.95 Kg bodyweight (158.3 lbs) * Sub masters women’s single lift deadlift: 180 Kgs (396 lbs) at 71.95 Kg bodyweight (158.3 lbs) * Sub masters women’s single lift deadlift: 160 Kg (352 lbs) raw lift at 65.2 Kg bodyweight (143.5 lbs). Victorian (state) records - * Sub masters women’s single lift deadlift: 180 Kgs (396 lbs) at 71.95 Kg bodyweight (158.3 lbs) * Open women’s single lift deadlift: 180 Kgs (396 lbs) at 71.95 Kg bodyweight (158.3 lbs) * Sub masters women single lift deadlift: 160 Kg (352 lbs) raw lift at 65.2 Kg bodyweight (143.5 lbs). * Sub masters women deadlift: 171 Kg (376.2 lbs) at 70.5 Kg (155.1 lbs) bodyweight. * Open women deadlift: 171 Kg (376.2 lbs) at 70.5 Kg (155.1 lbs) bodyweight. * Sub masters women bench press: 90 Kg (198 lbs) at 70.5 Kg (155.1 lbs) bodyweight. * Sub masters women total: 391 Kg (860.2 lbs) at 70.5 Kg (155.1 lbs) bodyweight. My placings to date are: December 2004 - CAPO annual deadlift challenge – 1st place in state titles, 2nd nationally and claimed a new Australian and Victorian (state) Deadlift record with the equal heaviest lift of the competition. March 2005 – My first CAPO three lift event – 1st place. September 2005 – My first single lift bench press event, 2nd place with the equal heaviest lift in my division. November 2005 – My second three lift event – 1st place and claimed four new state records. December 2005 - CAPO annual deadlift challenge – 1st place in state titles, 2nd nationally and claimed two new Australian and two new Victorian (state) Deadlift records with the equal heaviest lift of the competition. Which contest has been your biggest success; which has had the most meaning to you? All the competitions I have participated in so far have taught my something new. My most successful would have to be the 2004 and 2005 National Deadlift Challenges though. They are where I claimed my Australian records which in 2004 I didn’t even know until after my final lift!!! Please tell me something about your training routine (ie: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.) At present, I’m training five days a week with heavy weights and relatively low reps. This is a power routine and is designed to provide the best gains in quality size and strength. It is really a powerbuilding routine. A cross between powerlifting and bodybuilding based on heavy compound movements. My current split is this: Monday – Back (deadlifts) Tuesday – Back (rowing exercises) Wednesday – Chest / Shoulders Thursday – Legs Friday – Arms / Abs What is your favourite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? Believe it or not I actually don’t have favourite and least favourite exercises. I just love training!! Which body part is your best in your opinion? My best body parts would probably be my quads, biceps, traps and, when I’m super lean, my abs!! My back is also quickly becoming very thick and muscular from doing heavy deadlifts and barbell rows. If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? I’m 5’6” in height and weigh 180 lbs My current measurements are: Arms – 16.75" Chest - 42" (D cup) Waist - 29" Hips - 38" Thighs - 25" Calves - 16 1/2" And some of my best lifts are: Deadlifts – 440 lbs, 528 lbs in power rack for four reps (395 lbs for ten reps), 396 lbs in competition, 308 – 330 lbs is my working weight for reps (see video at www.putfile.com/titania) Squats – 396 lbs (to parallel), 245 – 285 lbs is my working weight for reps. I’ve done sets of 20 reps with 242 lbs (going as low as I can go i.e., boobs touching my quads) Bench press – 220 lbs for reps (before my shoulder injury), 198 lbs in competition Leg press – 1300 lbs Barbell curls – 135 lbs for reps Dumbell Curls – 65 lbs per arm for reps Barbell rows – 341 lbs for reps Cable Curls – 165 lbs for reps Tricep TNT Pressdowns - 200 lbs x 6 reps My most impressive lift would have to be flipping a 1900 lb car complete with an engine!!! (See the video on my website) I’ve also recently done some strength feats bending steel reinforcing rods (the ones used to reinforce concrete), crushing an apple in one hand, crushing a watermelon between my thighs and ripping a phone book with more than 1000 pages in half. These videos are also on my website and I have lots more planned this year. What do you enjoy about training for competition....what do you enjoy about the 'off season'? I don’t really have an off season. I keep my nutrition clean 90 percent of the time. The other 10 percent allows me room to live a little and enjoy some treats (like chocolate, pizza and Tim Tams!!) The best part about training for competition is the gains in strength and lifting ridiculously heavy weights!!!! Please describe a typical day in the life of Titania. Ha-ha….A typical day for me does not exist LOL. Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax?, etc.) I live near the beach so on a nice warm day, there is nothing quite like rollerblading or bike riding along the beach. I’m also very passionate about music and write and record my own albums. My ex-boyfriend is great with production ideas too so we work really well together on music. What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle? Being considerably stronger than most guys is a huge buzz!! The compliments and respect I receive from others is wonderful but by far the greatest thing about all this is inspiring others to achieve their true potential. I have many role models that I respect and admire so discovering that I am actually a role model to others is both a responsibility and a huge honour. Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear. I’m a total revhead at heart. I love fast cars and would love to drive in a rally one day! My ex-boyfriend shares this passion too. We live right near the Australian Formula One track in Albert Park so we always go to the Aus F1. Mark Webber (Aussie F1 race driver) stays with our neighbour during the race period too. What are your competition goals or personal future goals? I would love to compete internationally in powerlifting. I’d also love to do some strongwoman events too but there is a huge lack of them in Australia. Ultimately, I’d love to be recognised as one of the biggest, strongest and most importantly, feminine athletes in Australia and inspire other women to live their dreams too. |
