| Where and when were you born? I was born in Rochester NY September 3, 1969 What is your profession? Well that’s complicated – I have three jobs MSW (Master’s in Social Work). I am a Program and Training Coordinator of Family Support Services. I am in charge of three programs serving persons and parents (adult’s and children) with developmental, mental, emotional and physical disabilities. (Part-time) I also teach on the weekends – Crisis Interventions and physical interventions to new staff entering the human service field. And finally I am a counsellor working in a group home (Part-time). Were you involved in sports or fitness prior to bodybuilding and how did you get started with weight training? I took dancing since I was a kid (Ballet, Toe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Latin and Belly dancing etc). To this day I will take dance classes. In grammar school through college, I participated in down and cross country skiing. I was on the ski team in college. I also enjoyed and still do – Horseback riding, when I can ride. I was on the swim team when I was young. I got started in weight training in college – once I started to see the changes in my body from lifting weights, I was motivated to continue. Was it a goal for you to compete in bodybuilding competitions right from the beginning or was it something that grew in your mind as time went on and you saw the progress in your body? Yes it was a goal of mine and still is. I was heavy as a child and overcame an eating disorder that really took control of my life for about 20 years. Since I am now in a healthier mindset and have realistic expectations, I can approach my goal of competing with a healthier perspective and spiritual awareness. Watching my body change the right way (through proper diet, exercise, dedication, commitment and patience) gave me the will to enjoy the process of change and growth. Please tell me something about your training routine (i.e.: how many days per week / training split /cardio, etc.) I train at least 5-6 days a week. My training consists of weight training, cardio or dance classes. I train at least one body part a day and do 30-60 minutes of cardio. What is your favorite exercise in the gym and which one you don’t like so much? I enjoy training arms. I don’t care for Lunges to much – but incorporate them into my routine. I am still recovering from a back injury so I have to be careful with my leg workouts. Which body part is your best in your opinion? Never thought of it, but if I had to say…… I like my overall package, inside first. Without a healthy internal sense of self and well being, external body parts would be just objects. There is no one body part better than the other – it’s all connected. If you don’t mind would you give me some stats (best lifts and some body measurements)? When I was training heavy some of my best lifts: Flat Bench smith press – 185 -225 Seated pullies – 150 Dumbbells Shoulder press – 65 lbs dumbbell’s I am 5’6 between 150-155 lbs Please describe a typical day in the life of Kimberly Cicherillo. I am always on the go and will rest when I need to. I count my blessings every day, grab hold of life with purpose and an open mind. Not a day goes by when I am not thinking of or talking and connecting with my family members and friends – you know who you are. Although connection to people and community is a very important part of my day, every day is different for me (mainly because of my career and the individuals that I encounter). – My day is fun, can be overwhelming at times but it’s full of diversity, variety, culture, and full of opportunities to always learn something new about myself and others. Please tell me about what you do when you don’t work out (hobbies, what do you do to relax? etc.) I have many hobbies, Ceramics (I have a studio), reading, dancing, spending time with friends, shopping, horseback riding, camping ( roughing it), white water rafting, water skiing; you name it, a little of everything I guess……. Yes, I do know how to relax – some people would say differently. Anyway, I will treat myself to a day at the spa or a spa treatment, read in bed, go for a walk, listen to music, travel to relax and get away, or just spend some alone time watching my soaps. What do you enjoy most about the bodybuilding/fitness lifestyle? I enjoy the energy, discipline and motivation of the sport. I believe the fitness and the bodybuilding lifestyle is more cultural (then, there are sub cultures within the industry, of course). In a sense, –its family orientated. I love the fact that people are always helping each other and motivating others to believe in themselves to achieve the ultimate sense of self. This lifestyle promotes community. Tell me something interesting about yourself, something people may be surprised to hear. I am a great cook and can make a mean fatten cheese cake and Lasagna. I just won’t eat it, I have food allergies. Also, I can be a shy person when you first get to know me. I am an adventurous, well rounded woman. What are your competition goals or personal future goals? Well, I would like to compete someday. I just have to set a date and do it. My personal future goals: 1. I will pursue my Doctorate/PhD in Counselling and Human Development. 2. Write a book 3. Teach and create programs for women and children 4. become a foster parent or adopt a child later in life Please note: Kimberly does not do sessions or wrestling of any kind. Please don't ask! |
